These caramel slices taste just like the real thing but with approximately a third of the calories of the full fat versions! At only 120 calories a slice and filled with a sticky caramel made from dates, they are definitely a guilt free treat, one the whole family will love.
Makes 15 Slices
Ingredients
Biscuit Base
150g Flour (I used Gluten Free)
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
20g Granulated Sweetener
70g Butter or Dairy Free Spread suitable for baking, slightly melted
Method
Mix the flour, baking powder, sweetener and butter together then need together to make a pastry. Roll out on a floured surface and place on a small baking tray.
Cook in the Oven at 180 Degrees for 8-10 minutes or until golden.
Caramel Filling
Ingredients
90g Dates softened in 100ml Hot Water
10g Chopped Nuts
1 Tablespoon Golden Syrup
Method
Place the dates, nuts and golden syrup and blend until smooth.
Gently spread into the cooked base and chill in the fridge for 10 minutes.
Chocolate Topping
Melt 50g Chocolate in a bowl over a pan of hot water. Once melted add 2 Tablespoons Soya Cream our preferred cream and stir well.
Gently smooth over caramel then return to the fridge for another 10 minutes before slicing.
