Delicious Air Fryer Donuts, low sugar and only 110 calories each!

So I’ve been busy over the last week perfecting a healthier donut recipe. Whilst all of them were delicious, this recipe ticks all the boxes. Made with wholemeal bread flour and Greek style yogurt makes them light and fluffy and cooking them in the air fryer gives them a fabulous crispy outside. They can also be made dairy free!

Makes 14

200g Greek Style Yogurt or dairy free alternative

250g Wholemeal Bread Flour

100ml of Oat Milk

1 Tablespoon Oil (I used Rapeseed oil)

1 Teaspoon Vanilla Flavouring

1 Teaspoon Caramel or White Chocolate Flavouring (available online)

1 Tablespoon Maple Syrup

1/2 Teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda

1 Teaspoon Baking Powder

Wholemeal bread Flour for rolling

1-2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil for cooking

Optional topping: 2 tablespoons Half sugar and 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon mixed together for dusting or add your favourite toppings

Mix the yogurt with the flavourings, milk and maple syrup. Mix the baking powder and bicarbonate of soda with the flour then using a spoon bring both mixes together to form a dough. Take a spoonful of the mix and flour the work surface. Make into a sausage shape and roll with your fingers to about 1cm thick then pinch the 2 ends together to form the ring doughnut.

Preheat the oil in the air fryer to 200 degrees and cook in a single layer for 3 minutes on both sides.

Whilst warm dip into the sugar and cinnamon mix or melt a little half sugar with a little hot water to make a glaze. Alternatively leave to cool and add your own favourite toppings

Enjoy. Store in an air tight container or freeze if not eating over the next 2 days.

Best of all, if they do go a little stale you can bring them back to perfect. Simply heat them for approximately 2 seconds in the microwave or 30 seconds in the air fryer and they go nice and soft again.
