How to make 2023 your best year yet!

Updated: Jan 4, 2023

Lots of us make New Year's Resolutions with all good intentions only to see them pushed to the wayside a few weeks, days or even hours later. Quite often it's because we have decided to give something up!

The thought of depriving ourselves or giving something up completely can send even the most studious of us into panic.

Making a New Years resolution doesn't have to mean depriving yourself forever of your favourite food or giving yourself a hard time if you take a wobble. What if, instead of giving something up, you add more to your life to improve it for the better?

Yes you have probably told yourself that this year you're going to lose weight, give up drinking or smoking or just get healthier. What if I told you that there are things that you can add to your life to make these things happen?

Of course, why wouldn't you take a little help if it makes it easier to achieve those New Year goals.

If you want to give up or cutdown on drinking why not give the alcohol free sections go? There is a lot more choice on the market from lagers, beers and ales to wine and even Guinness!

I love the McGuigan's Alcohol Free white and red wines as well as Asda's Fre Range of white, red and rose wines. My hubby particularly enjoys Ghostship Ales and the whole family have fully embraced Guinness 0.0 as a fabulous alcohol free alternative.

If you have been going cold turkey on the cigarette front and are finding it a struggle then there's plenty out there to help. With nearly all chemists offering free stop smoking support as well as patches, sprays, pens and written information as well as information on support groups, you're only a few steps away from succeeding.

When it comes to weight loss I strongly believe getting some extra support definitely makes this easier. Whether it's from a friend or a group like Shape Your Life, having someone else to talk to, get tips, advice, recipes, support and motivation from is invaluable, especially when it comes to keeping your resolve.

We all know that losing weight makes us feel better, dramatically improves our health and helps us to look good, but did you know that eating healthier also improves your gut health as well as your brain health? Plus it doesn't mean we can't have a little of what we fancy, the occasional treat is something you can look forward to. We enjoy teaching people about food choices, alternatives as well as how to add the occasional treat so you don't feel like you are missing out. Our STRIDE in 2023 plan will help give you that boost and is available free to everyone joining us over the coming weeks.

Eating a healthier diet can also reduce stress and anxiety as well as giving you more energy and an improved mindset.

Working on your mindset, improving your positivity and making plans for the future is also another way to help you achieve your goals. Learning to take time out for you and putting the steps in place to make your dreams become reality is something we can all do.

Remember things take time, very few things change overnight, even a catapillar has to wait up to 6 weeks before they see their wings. So go on, give it your all in 2023 and make this your best year ever!
