This super simple dish only uses 4 Ingredients, is very tasty and also looks impressive. Using lighter puff pastry, less butter and half spoon sugar (half the calories of normal sugar) helps to reduce the sugar and fat content and makes this a much healthier version of what can be a high fat, high sugar and high calorie dessert. The dates also add a little sweetness and toffee taste. It can be made in the oven, however it's much quicker and the pastry is lovely and crispy when made in an air fryer.
Ingredients
Serves 6
1/2 sheet of Shop Bought Light Puff Pastry
1-2 Apples, slices
4 Dates Chopped (optional)
25g Butter
25g Half Spoon Sugar
Grease Proof Paper
Preheat the air fryer 200 Degrees for 3 minutes. Remove the pastry from the packaging and leave at room temperature for ten minutes. Meanwhile slice the apple (skin on). Cut the grease proof paper so it's just bigger than the base of the oven dish or air fryer, making sure that it isn't too big that it touches the top of the air fryer.
Now spread the butter onto the grease proof
paper to where is covers the base, top with the sugar. Carefully place the paper into the bottom of the air fryer or oven dish and top with sliced apple and sprinkle over dates (if using). Cook at 200 degrees for 5 minutes. Next carefully place the pastry on top tucking down the edges to completely cover the apples and dates. Cook 200 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
Turn out by placing a plate over the dish or airfryer base and tip over. Use oven gloves or a tea towel to hold the dish/ air fryer base.
Serve with light cream or custard
